Kevin Godley cut his musical milk teeth in the 1960’s playing in local Manchester bands GROUP 17, THE SABRES and THE MOCKINGBIRDS, forming strong musical ties with Lol Crème and Graham Gouldman. A track on GEORGIO GOMELSKI’s seminal MARMALADE SAMPLER album (G&C composition TO FLY AWAY) as Frabjoy and The Runcible Spoon began a recording career that enjoyed its first hit, NEANDERTHAL MAN, with Lol Crème and Eric Stewart circa 1970 in short lived studio band HOTLEGS. A few years as Strawberry Studios session drummer / producer followed with Gouldman eventually joining the production team that mutated into 10cc. In 1976 Godley & Creme left 10cc to record CONSEQUENCES, a triple-album, conceived to showcase the GIZMO a device they invented to create orchestral sounds on the guitar. Further albums followed L / FREEZE FRAME / ISMISM / BIRDS OF PREY / HISTORY MIX / GOODBYE BLUE SKY and hit singles AN ENGLISHMAN IN NEW YORK / UNDER YOUR THUMB / WEDDING BELLS / CRY.
