Running parallel to Godley’s 1980’s musical life was a growing involvement in the exploding music video scene of the early 1980’s. His first experience, co-directing with Crème, their own single, AN ENGLISHMAN IN NEW YORK led directly to commissions for VISAGE, DURAN DURAN, THE POLICE, GRAHAM PARKER, CULTURE CLUB, HERBIE HANCOCK, FRANKIE GOES TO HOLLYWOOD, LOU REED, ERIC CLAPTON and PETER GABRIEL. G & C subsequently set up MEDIALAB, their own production company, notably directing a channel 4 programme on the JFK assassination. ‘THE DAY THE DREAM DIED’, THE ‘SYNCHRONICITY CONCERT’ for THE POLICE and further pioneering audio / visual experimentation via THE VIDEO LABEL.

Since parting company with Lol Creme in the late 1980’s KG has directed TV commercials for HABITAT, NYNEX, MALIBU, TOSHIBA, TEXACO, PSE&G, AUDI, AT&T, NISSAN, GRANADA, PEPSI COLA and BACI.

He has also directed ‘ONE WORLD ONE VOICE’ a musical chain letter meets environmental documentary for BBC 2. A multi-screen, pre-show archive movie for PAUL MCARTNEY’s 1993 ‘PAUL IS LIVE’ US tour and Channel 4’s highly acclaimed ‘ZOO TV’ concert for U2 plus music videos for the following feature films.
